March 2008 Newsletter

Hi everyone! This month I wanted to put the spotlight on a little place called Etsy. This is a great time to check out some amazing handmade arts and crafts online. Come away from your wood stoves and fireplaces, ignore that six feet of snow outside your door and if you haven’t already you must check out Etsy.com. It’s a great resource for artists and crafters of every kind to show and sell online in a fun community environment while buyers can see products from all over the world in one easy site. Every artist has their own store, you can shop locally by state or use the Geolocator to see the recently listed items from all over the globe. With fun functions like searching by color you’ll be able to find any item to match anything!

Brooklyn-based Etsy was conceived in 2005 by Rob Kalin, a painter, carpenter and photographer who was unimpressed with the current selection of online e-commerce and auction sites. Most of these websites were filled with overstock electronics and broken appliances. Interested in showcasing handcrafters and artists, Rob set out to unleash his vision on the web. Three months later Etsy was launched attracting 650,000 registered users, 60,000 of whom are individual artists selling more than 950,000 of their handmade creations.

I have been constantly updating and tending my little space on Etsy and wanted to share with you this great resource. You can find me at NovationGlass.etsy.com. And if you sign up for an account make sure to add me to your favorites so you can easily find the shop again.
